2004 celibrates the 50th anniversary of Paper Lace reaching number 1 in the UK charts with their debut single “Billy Don’t Be A Hero”. Episode 20 features the band appearing at the London Palladium on the Royal Variety Performance in front of HRH The Queen Mother.
The same year chart success followed with “The Night Chicago Died” which reached number 11 in the British charts and number 1 in America.
The video has been edited from a link sent to Chris by Phil Wright. Phil was the drummer and vocalist in Paper Lace. The other members of Paper Lace who appear on the video as well as Chris and Phil are: Mick Vaughan on lead and rhythm guitar, Cliff Fish on bass guitar, and Carlos Santana on Guitar.
In conclusion, a quote from Phil Wright’s Facebook Page “No tracks, no autotune, just a live performance like they used to be”.
We can’t argue with that. Hope you enjoy the seven minutes of sheer music entertainment from Paper Lace. We appreciate your visit to our podcast and please leave a comment below. Thank you.
